Our Family!
About
I'm David Botts—a pastor, professor, and lifelong collector of books and fountain pens.
I serve as Minister of Assimilation at Crossway Baptist Church in Springfield, Missouri, helping people find their place in the life of the church, and I teach theology at Mission University (formerly Baptist Bible College). Both roles allow me to do what I enjoy most: opening the Scriptures with people and helping them see the beauty, wisdom, and truth of God's Word.
I'm married to Jess. We adopted our daughter, Harper, in 2019 and our son, Henry, in 2022.
Why This Site
My desire is simple: to help you read the Scriptures with clarity and confidence.
The Bible can feel intimidating. It was written in different cultures, over many centuries, and its pages often raise difficult questions. Yet God did not give us His Word to confuse us, but to reveal Himself to us.
This site is where I share articles, sermons, and courses that are designed to make Scripture more understandable and more approachable. Whether we're exploring theology, learning how to interpret a passage, or thinking through difficult questions, my hope is that you'll come away with a deeper understanding of God's Word and greater confidence to study it for yourself.
A Few Things I Love
Outside of teaching and ministry, you'll usually find me with a good book or a fountain pen in hand. I enjoy playing golf when I have the chance, and I've recently developed an appreciation for typewriters. Most of all, I love spending time with Jess, Harper, and Henry. And if the Hawkeyes are playing, there's a good chance I'll be watching.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope the resources here encourage you, strengthen your faith, and help you read the Scriptures with greater clarity and confidence.
